General Information

Scalped is a free magazine online that features fantastic fiction, art, poetry and prose.

A Brief History of Scalped

The idea for Scalped magazine originated between Martin Keller and Erin Rodino - both admirers and producers of literature. Initially, the magazine was going to directly cater to writers and artists in the Hudson Valley alone, but as the submissions and inquiries grew, the project seemed more limited by this constituent, rather than guided.

This literary-art magazine aims to showcase writers and artists at any stage of their craft, whether their careers are in their infancy or finality. We especially love to support and feature those whose work may not have a definite platform as of yet, or has never been published.

Scalped hopefully will provide an outlet for writers and artists of all kinds, and provide readers and viewers with quality pieces of writing and artwork that will not only entertain but nurture the mind and creative spirit that resides in all of us.

Scalped would not of been possible without the following voices and minds who I personally thank for their influence and hard-work. First, Robert Masterson, who made the possibility of a literary magazine evident, and who guided the editors and project. Martin Keller, who came up with the magazine title, and whose toned aesthetic senses chose much of the work in the first issue. Jess Fitzgerald, the artist who drew the cover and logo for Scalped. Rebekah Aura Nemethy, who created the entire website for the magazine - who made it accessible; who also edited the work and made crucial decisions regarding format and presentation. Lauren Campanaro, whose editing helped complete the magazine when the deadlines were fast approaching. And of course, a great thank you to all the contributors who had faith in the idea of the magazine, and who wanted their work to be a part of it.
